We are partners with Roaring Fork Neurology Neurospa, where Dr. Brooke Allen has invested whole-heartedly in the science of integrating breath, somatic movement, meditation, and nutrition into her practice. 

Our Intrinsic Space at the center has a healing atmosphere that supports deep relaxation and renewal. We use Manduka Yoga Props in our movement and breathwork sessions. A projector offers visual sensory support when desired, and our space is open for use by patients and clients for self-guided relaxation practices. 

Through Dr. Allen's supervision, Emily Hightower now offers BioFeedback and Neurofeedback sessions to help you train yourself to respond to stress with skillfulness. 

Biofeedback is a process that enables an individual to learn how to change physiological activity for the purposes of improving health and performance.

Precise instruments measure physiological activity such as brainwaves, heart function, breathing, muscle activity, and skin temperature. These instruments rapidly and accurately "feedback" information to the user. The presentation of this information — often in conjunction with changes in thinking, emotions, and behavior — supports desired physiological changes. Over time, these changes can endure without continued use of an instrument.

Neurofeedback is a type of biofeedback that tells you about the brain waves being activated during coaching and treatment. This helps the recipient of treatment tap into the feelings associated with different brain activity, and how to manage the brain through intrinsic skills like breath, mindset, focus and/or relaxation techniques.

During the biofeedback and neurofeedback procedures, sensors are attached to the waist, hands, jaw, forehead or shoulders, the earlobes, and/or the head to gather information. These sensors simply measure changes in the system being monitored. The information is seen on a computer screen and heard through speakers or headphones. This allows you to see and hear changes in your physiological activity and, by practicing self-regulation techniques such as relaxation and breathing, to learn to correct imbalances in these systems.
